Their brain is wired with many good characteristic like detail-oriented, logical, rational, data driven, precise, methodical, and tension free. These are good traits for a manager, but these are not only the skills needed as a successful manager. These are essential traits for a manager or a leader.

I have worked under several managers, retired chief engineers and other qualified persons like Ex military men. They had given me much freedom. They are supportive, understanding, good listeners, fair, respectful and compassionate. We must be empathetic more than anything else. We may be best technical persons and having good communication skills and listeners than speakers. These skills are learnable.
New Skill sets that an Engineer should Learn
The most wanted skill is communication, interpersonal communication skills. We must have ability to develop relationships or developing self-awareness. These skills could tell about how a manager does their job. With these skills you can be a better delegator to handle a difficult situation.
Foundational Skill Self-awareness
We must need it but should not communicate it to subordinates. We shall be given training from outside. Employers to be appreciate the value of training. Manager will keep a client happy, bring a new client, and retain peoples in the organization.
