What is Ecology
Every living things is interacting each
other for survival, it is surrounded by materials and forces which constitute
the environment and environment provides its needs. For animals and plants
requires food, air and water and energy (sunlight). The non-living things such
as oxygen, carbon dioxide, water, nitrates, phosphates, etc are the components
of environment. The living components of environments are animals, plant and
microbes. Thus the ecology is the science of organism and its place of living.
Definition
of Ecology
Ecology is the science of community. This
definition is given by Frederick Clements in 1916. W.P. Taylor defines it as
the science of the relations of the organisms to all their environments.
Scope
Ecology is connected with other science
subjects, biology, genetics, physics and electronics or we can say all
sciences. We are investigating the interactions between animals and
environments, man is also an animal. Animals are getting foods from other animals
and plants. Plants are getting food from soil and sun. Then if anything harmful
to one of them is not to be allowed. We have to study plant and animal
geography. Distribution of its species along the earth is important to an
ecologist.
Objectives
Environments have been a great impact on
human and plant life in the earth, any unbalance or changes may have a negative
impact on the life. By studying or understanding ecology is useful for us to
keep the nature in keeping in balance, this will helpful further in designing
infrastructure for human and animal shelter. Forgetting plenty of oxygen we
must have forests and plants around human habitat. we don’t know fully about
nature, that must be filled through the
study of ecology which is a blend of all other sciences.
Concepts of the Ecosystem
In a unit of ecosystem there must have been
a cycle of nutrients and flow of energy. In the earth different places have
different weather and climate. Some animals and plants required certain kind of
climate, which could not be existence in other ecosystems or places. In a unit
there must be forests and mountains and vacant lands to the flow of oxygen etc.
shelter is a basic human need in an ecosystem there must be places suitable for
it. Simply speaking ecosystem is the nature. River, sea or ponds are part of an
ecosystem. These should be an important part to play in the life in this planet
earth. To conclude we can say that it is essential for us to understand nature
and ecosystem to live a happy life.
